White Night Riot, 1979 — A burning police car at San Francisco City Hall on May 21, 1979, following a protest by activists angry that Dan White, the asassin of Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone, did not receive a first-degree murder verdict at his trial. Then police officers counter-attacked and citizens and press were injured at the Civic Center and at the Elephant Walk bar in the Castro.
